LATAM to transmit X Games in 3D

Latin American operators, including ESPN, are to transmit the Winter X Games in Aspen in 3D for the whole of the LATAM region.

The event will be available on pay-TV channels, TV everywhere platforms and ESPN Play. A total of 36 operators in 14 countries will transmit the event in 3D. Direct TV will broadcast it in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia and the Caribbean.

For many of these operators, including Tigo in Paraguay, this sporting event will be their first excursion in the world of the 3D, according to Next TV Latam.

Alicia Borja, marketing manager at Tigo, explained that subscribers with an HD package and a 3DTV will be able to enjoy the games in 3D. She added that within the next few weeks more channels in the region will start transmitting in 3D. Borja predicts that around 10% of Tigo's customers have 3DTV sets.
