LATAM pay-TV operators unite against piracy

A group of LATAM pay-TV operators have joined forces to create Alianza, an association dedicated to fighting piracy, specifically that of FTA operators.

Alianza aims to strengthen relations with relevant governments and companies in order to maintain up-to-date information on piracy. It will also become involved and support legal actions taking place in LATAM countries including Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. The association will share its resources with the legal entities involved.

Alianza aims to educate consumers regarding the issue of piracy through a website as well as through television.

The new association's members include Abta, DirecTV Pan Americana, Discovery, Disney & ESPN Media Networks Latin America, Fox International Channels Latin America, Globosat, HBO, Nagra and Sky Brasil.
