France Télévisions forecasts €42MN loss for 2013

French pubcaster France Télévisions forecasts a €42 million loss in its 2013 budget, expecting a 4.3% decrease, around €130 million, in its revenue.

The loss will, however, be contained as the licence fee will be upped by €2 to €131 this year, France Télévisions announced after its board approved the 2013 budget.

The €130 million expected decrease of revenue will come from a €91 million crunch of ad revenue compared to 2012, and €36 million in public funding.

France Télévisions says that the expected losses are under control owing to a €60 million operational cost reduction plan that takes in all the group's activities.

However, France Télévisions says it will preserve its strategic priorities such as news and sport programming, original productions, in which FTV will pour €400 million, local programming and digital.

France Télévisions wants to keep on developing into connected and social TV, and extending content distribution on all platforms.
