Audiovisual services take 90% of Internet traffic on fixed networks

Audiovisual services account for nine tenths of broadband Internet traffic on fixed networks in France, and for 26% on mobile networks, according to a study piloted by Idate.

In the survey, 84% of traffic is consists of legally acquired content on fixed networks, and 14% on mobile networks. The huge part that video images represent in the traffic derives from linear TV viewing that represents 90% of all audio-visual traffic. By contrast, on-demand TV services account for just a tenth

According to CNC, who commissioned the report, these results confirm the structuring value of audio-visual services in the Internet economy, both on fixed and mobile networks owing to the growth of online video viewing.
