ASBU network provides content exchange for Iraqi broadcasters

Broadcasters in Iraq can now access their own IP-based and secure virtual network to contribute and exchange TV content following the installation of several multimedia exchange network over satellite (MENOS) television interactive terminals.
The terminals, deployed by satellite communications company Newtec, operate within the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) exchange network. The platform supports multiple simultaneous exchange services for broadcasters across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and this latest addition provides Iraq with its own private network.
"We are eager to improve the ability of broadcasters and to give them access to a number of life-line services to contribute content from anywhere in the country," said Slaheddine Maaoui, director general, ASBU.
"We believe this to be an important way of encouraging a robust media to thrive, resulting in strong regeneration in Iraq. We are sure that this virtual network will vastly improve the capabilities for broadcasters inside Iraq," he added.
