Just as Moscow’s National Cable Networks reconfirmed a long-standing commitment, content security firm Conax was lauded for contributing to significant subscriber growth by one of the country’s leading DTH platforms.
In the case of the latter, National Cable Networks, who has worked with Conax since 2004, has signed a further contract to provide its OnLime.net online TV division with a solution for securing the video rental. The project includes a Conax security-certified set-top box from Humax for a high level of protection for OnLime.
The OTT portal OnLime.net has plans to give subscribers the ability to view content "video rental" for multiple devices, and eventually including services such as weather, traffic, online service purchases, the ability to pay utility bills.
Explained Sergey Kalugin, General Director NCN: “We needed a solution that would allow us to provide DTV services based on DVB-C networks. Key criteria included choosing a solution that is highly reliable, time-tested and proven. On the other hand, the system should not be too complex, otherwise it would prove costly. Our decision was based on optimal price/performance ratio.”
NCN may be hoping for performance that Russian satellite TV provider Orion Express has just revealed that it has gained by deploying a Conax content security solution to its DTH platforms. The contract with Conax includes providing security for Telekarta and for Vostok (Orient Express) in a simulcrypt contract with an existing security provider. In 2010, Orion Express established its own division for content creation and has over 500 contracts with broadcasters in the region boasting access for over 9 million subscribers to content distributed by local broadcaster via cable analogue and digital, IPTV, and terrestrial platforms.
Said Konstantin Saltykov, Technical director, Orion Express LLC: “Implementation of Conax CA, together with aggressive market promotion of Orion Express’s digital satellite TV platforms, made it possible to attract many new partners and considerably increase the number of subscribers.”
