Viacom to launch new thematic channels in Spain

Viacom is preparing to launch a new channel of fiction in various countries and first on the list will be Spain, which is scheduled for the first quarter of the year.

At the recent presentation of its results of Viacom, Philippe Dauman, director of the company, announced the launch of the channel which will operate in several countries and whose grid will draw on content produced by Paramount Pictures internationally.

According to Dauman, in two or three years will be many countries with this new offering, with the company claiming to have identified strong demand for TV. It is confident that its  Paramount Theater division houses an important library of titles that can be exploited in these channels.

Viacom announced last April that Michael Armstrong was promoted to vice president and general manager of BET International and Paramount Pictures Channels with the aim of strengthening the brand BET (Black Entertainment Television, available in the U.S. since 1980 and the United Kingdom since 2008, including other countries) and Paramount Pictures, which operates American cable operators plus the channel Epix, which currently offers content such as the Star Trek saga, Friday 13, Beverly Hills Cop.
