Peruvian producer Creative Three, responsible for the success of the show 'Tribulación' on the América TV network, has embarked upon an international expansion plan.
"Tribulación was a very ambitious project, not just because of its unique narrative and aesthetics—quite unusual for TV—but because each episode was produced with twice the budget that's usually devoted to these types of projects," said Dino García, producer and GM at the producer, quoted in 'TTV Media News'.
'Tribulación' made its debut in January 2011 on América TV based on a premise of excellent narrative and technical quality, and a format that can be adapted internationally.
Venevision International signed a distribution deal with the network, which later used the product as a gateway for international markets.
Several non-Peruvian companies have already shown interest in signing co-production deals in the country; an increasing trend within Latin American markets in general. "And it's not only in regard to production and distribution companies, such as VIP2000 with whom we are currently negotiating. I'm talking about major companies within the telcos, who are interested mainly in producing their own content," García added.
The company will though face several challenges, such as producing storylines that are less local, working with foreign technicians, and adapting its production model to the international market's needs.
