QVC Germany launches HbbTV service

Home shopping broadcaster QVC Germany has launched a multimedia service in the HbbTV standard on 1 September 2011. The free-of-charge offering, which is accessible through the TV screen, contains, for example, on-demand programmes, news, weather reports and games.

In the video-on-demand (VOD) section, viewers can decide themselves which programmes, product offers and topical worlds they want to watch at a time of their choice. For example, there are theme channels on specific product categories such as fashion, beauty, jewellery, hobby and technology.

The TV archive contains all shows of the past seven days in full-length. There are also video portraits of the QVC presenters and information on the company.

The offer, which becomes available by pressing the red button on the remote control, can be accessed with HbbTV-compliant connected TV sets or set-top-boxes with an internet connection
