French regulator the CSA has given the green light to the first experimentation of DTT interactive bouquet Mes Services TV.This independent project is being piloted by the French professional association for the development of interactive television AFDESI and will gather various kinds of dedicated services. It aims to enrich the TV viewers’ experience with services linked to citizenship, assistance, news and leisure.
The test, which will take place from July to December, will first be local and limited to the Auxerre city area (Burgundy, South East of Paris), before being extended to other areas.
Significantly for the development of hybrid standards, Mes Services TV will be based on the HbbTV standard which has been adopted by most of French consumer electronics manufacturers.
Mes Services TV’s content will be accessible to viewers equipped with a HbbTV set connected to internet, through its own video channel carried on DTT. In doing so AFDESI wants to study the relevance of such a portal which has been developed within a twofold scope: offering viewers more pluralism and diversity and bringing TV operators the opportunity of displaying their own services. Testing the portal will also help to check how viewers use the remote control, get access to the various sections and make their final choice of a service.
Some thirty partners have shown interest in the project including TV channel GONG, sport daily L'Equipe, VOD platform mySkreen, Loewe, TDF and payment solution services PayPal.
