A new consortium is targeting the TV Everywhere concept for the Latin American television market, where entrenched players and a thirst for advanced TV make for a tough road to differentiation.
Comtelsat Networks, Tvinci, IDPoint and Grey Juice Lab are joining forces on the initiative, dubbed 'TV 360'. The solution enables content owners and operators to offer video-on-demand (VOD) and live video online under any business model, wrapped in with traditional broadcast. The partners want to enable implementation with any Internet-connected device, including PCs, game consoles, tablets, smartphones, connected TVs and set -top boxes (STBs).
The idea is ecosystem-friendly: the idea is to enable producers, content aggregators, pay TV operators, Internet portals and ISPs to generate greater income from premium online content.
"This offering, combining content, technology and service, is the most comprehensive on the Latin American market," said Tvinci's co-founder Ido Wiesenberg. "We're seeing that a large number of operators and media companies are interested in entering the pay-OTT TV space, but ?nd it hard to put all the pieces together in this relatively new landscape. They now have a fully tailored solution that enables them to quickly launch a premium service."
Operators using the joint solution leverage Tvinci's content and user experience management systems to create a consistent, personalized viewing experience for their viewers across devices by centrally managing video assets, business rights and viewer experience through a single platform.
IDPoint supports the platform through hardware architecture, and Grey Juice Lab provides content management, bringing premieres of Hollywood movies, transactional video-on-demand (VOD) and subscription packages for VOD, all rolled out under the Comtelsat TV 360 offering.
"TV service operators, whether satellite, cable, telcos, mobile operators and ISPs are increasingly looking to meet subscriber demand to access premium content through any screen available, making an experience that truly satis?es the individual tastes and lifestyle of each end user," Said Schwarz, director of Comtelsat Networks, said in a statement. “This service offering, in partnership with innovative solutions providers like Tvinci, IDPoint and Grey Juice Lab, enables exactly that: making on-demand the more personalised TV experience that viewers are coming to expect.”
