German music channel to change name

German music channel volksmusik.tv is to change its name into Deutsches Musik Fernsehen („German Music Television“) on 1 February.

The pay-TV broadcaster, which has so far focused on traditional German-language music and German-language country songs, will at the same time open its schedule to further German-language music genres such as disco fox.

„The name will change, but the language stays: We play German-language music 24 hours per day,“ said Jürgen R. Grobbin, the channel‘s head of programmes and distribution. The new website will be at www.deutsches-musik-fernsehen.de.

The channel will continue to mainly screen music videos. Each day at 12.00, 13.00, 19.00 and 20.00 CET presenter-led music shows from Germany and Austria will be broadcast.

Like its predecessor, Deutsches Musik Fernsehen will be available through Eutelsat‘s direct-to-cable platform KabelKiosk on several cable networks including Tele Columbus, PrimaCom, NetCologne and wilhelm.tel. DTH satellite households can subscribe to the channel on pay-TV platform
