Samsung and SK rollout Cyworld social networking on connected TV

Samsung and SK Communications have joined forces to offer Cyworld, South Korea’s biggest social networking site, on Samsung’s Smart TV connected TV offer.

Users will be able to upload and share photos and content with their friends, and post comments on their own or their friends’ homepages, using the remote control.

The service is linked with smartphones such as Samsung’s Galaxy S, meaning photos taken by Samsung’s flagship smartphone could be viewed immediately on Cyworld’s photo menu.

Samsung’s Smart TV, which began offering services in March, has released up to 290 TV applications for 120 different countries, including Korea, the US, France, Germany and the UK.

Samsung recently celebrated the millionth TV app download from its Smart TV Library less than a year after its initial launch.
