Scripps Networks International’s Food Network has launched in the Philippines, just a month after the channel’s expansion into Malaysia.
A high-definition, English-language version of the channel has launched on digital-satellite platform Cignal Digital TV. Broadcasting 24 hours a day in English, the channel includes US-sourced fare as well as some locally-produced original content. Original commissioned programming includes Eat Like a Local, Home Cooking, and Food Fun At 3am.
“There is large appetite in Asia for both high-definition television and quality lifestyle entertainment that we seek to satisfy," said Greg Moyer, president of Scripps Networks International, global development arm of Scripps Networks Interactive. "We are teaming with Cignal Digital TV to bring Food Network Asia to the Philippine and enable viewers to travel around the world with the network and enjoy the highest quality gastronomical programming in HD from their homes."
Scripps is currently overseeing an expansion of the network in Asia. Food Network Asia already broadcasts in Singapore and Taiwan as well as Malaysia and now the Philippines.
