French cable operator Numericable has launched a 3D pilot channel to increase its subscribers’ awareness of such a technology.
The new service, on channel 19 of the operator’s bouquet, allows HD subs already equipped with dedicated TV sets and glasses to watch sequences of TV dramas, animated shows and documentaries recently broadcast in 3D.
This test will be followed in autumn with the launch of a on-demand 3D channel. At present 500,000 Numericable subs own HD set top boxes.
