The company aims to be the first operator in Europe to deliver such services to cable networks as before the end of the year. For this purpose, a collaboration has been formed with German STB manufacturer VideoWeb whose hybrid box will be used for reception.
The interactive services will connected with TVs via internet access integrated in the boxes. KabelKiosk's portal will, for example, include video-on-demand (VOD) content and web-shops as well as offers compiled by network operators and the housing industry while VideoWeb will contribute a video library with HD movies, amongst other services.
The offer, which connects television with the internet world, will be showcased at consumer electronics fair IFA in Berlin in the TecWatch hall 8.1 at booth 22.
"Thanks to our collaboration with VideoWeb all interested network operators and partner channels will be able to make the next step on the road of hybrid television with Eutelsat," said Martina Rutenbeck, managing director of KabelKiosk's parent company Eutelsat visAvision. "They will thereby gain the possibility to offer their customers and viewers - besides interactive services and VOD - their own new content and open up new revenue sources."
