Hot on the heels of Sky Deutschland revealing that it was planning a major push in 3D TV, now Germany’s domestic football league Bundesliga lining up a shot at 3D TV and has given first broadcasting options to its existing partners when entering the new era.
3D kick-off would likely take place around the beginning of the second half of the 2010/11 season which starts on 14 January 2011, Christian Seifert, head of national football association DFL, told business newspaper “Handelsblatt”.
“We are evaluating different options. Both with Sky Deutschland and Deutsche Telekom we are in discussions about whether to offer one game per weekend as a 3D production,”
“I see good chances to launch a 3D channel next year. We have all the rights for three-dimensional television,” Sky Deutschland CEO Brian Sullivan told the paper. In the forthcoming months a test run with DFL in planned. “It’s not a question whether, but when we will launch a channel,” the report quotes a Sky manager.
