Spain's DTT tests ID-reliant public services

Spanish public telecommunications company Indra has developed for the Castillian capital of Segovia an advanced platform allowing access to public services via digital-terrestrial TV. Users insert their digital ID document in a slot in their DTT set-top box to access the public services of the Segovia's town hall. The project is being tested on 1,100 users.

This is the first plan of its type in Spain and the investment made in it will amount to €700,000 in its first phase and another €140,000 in the second phase.

The box must be MHP compliant, MHP being the official interactive DTT standard approved in Europe and Spain for interactive television.

Segovia is the first Spanish capital to test this application but the project may be extended to other cities of the central region of Castilla and León since the applications can be personalized, according to the newspaper "Cinco Días".
