Spanish telco Telefónica saw its net profit rise 9.4% in the first half this year to reach €3,775 million.
The company, presided over by César Alierta, registered revenues of €29,053 million, 5.4% more than in the same period last year.
But in Spain Telefónica did not do as well, with revenues down 4.5% at €9,321 million. In the rest of Europe, revenues rose 10.8% to €7,278 million. In the Old Continent the company underlined it had strenghthened its competitive position after the acquisition of German spectrum by investing €1,379 million.
In Latin America, Telefónica's revenues grew 10.2% to €12,063 million. Telefónica Latin America and Telefónica Europa account for 67% of the company’s total income.
Putting the economic results apart the Spanish international telco underlined in the first half of this year it added a total of 4.7 million accesses, double the figure than in the same period last year. In the whole world the company reaches 277.76 million clients, 5.2% more than a year ago.
For its pay-TV business Telefónica's subscribers finished at 2.7 million in this period, a growth of 10.4%.
