Canal+ has inked a video-on-demand deal for its Canal+ Play VOD service with movie group MK2 that includes content from every branch of the movie industry.
Since March 15, Canal+’s VOD service CanalPlay has been accessible via MK2’s online movie portal MK2.fr. Internauts can access 8,000 pieces of content including 4,000 feature films and a large amount of exclusive series.
MK2 will add value to this large VOD offer by adding editorial comments. Viewers can buy or rent the videos for a basic price of €1.99 but most of them amount to €3.99.
Following new regulations, new feature films now become available on CanalPlay four months after their theatrical release instead of six previously.
According to Canal+, this agreement is a new breakthrough in the creation of legal online VOD offers. MK2 is a French film production company and movie theatre chain which is moving into the online world.
