German TV group ProSiebenSat.1 has unveiled the launch date of its women’s channel Sixx. The new venture will go on air on May 7, channel head Katja Hofem-Best announced during the presentation of its programmes.
The digital free-to-air service, which will broadcast via cable, satellite and IPTV, will show US series such as 90210, Gossip Girl and Lipstick Jungle, original productions like a docu soap, a celebrity show and reports as well as movies and made-for-TV films. Talkshow fans will have the opportunity to watch the legendary Oprah Winfrey Show only one to two weeks after its US airing in the original English-language version with German subtitles.
Sixx will also show repeats of popular talent show Germany’s Next Top Model by Heidi Klum from sister channel ProSieben, beginning with the first series. A special feature is that the channel will not interrupt its programmes with commercials, with advertising spots only shown between programmes.
