Costa Rica’s telecoms authority has authorized four cable operators to operate in specific areas of the country over a 10-year period.
NexTV Latam says that the operators are authorised to supply analogue CATV and internet services across the whole national territory and that Telecable Económico is now authorized to offer CATV and internet in the provinces of San José and Cartago.
The Cooperative of Rural Powering Los Santos is another player, Cablecentro a third, and Cable Onda and Amnet, who offer digital cable. Additionally, Sky Central America offers DTH services and Ice is expected to enter IPTV business very soon.
