Product placement, or embedded marketing, has been officially authorized on television in France since March 6, by TV regulatory body the CSA.
Now covered by the new regulation are feature films, TV movies and series as well as music clips. Until now, this form of advertising was not authorized anywhere except in movies.
Some categories of product are off-limits, however. Drinks with more than 1.2% of alcohol, tobacco, medicine, firearms and munitions, baby food and products or services from the sponsor of a show, won’t be able to place products.
