Chinese state broadcaster CCTV has launched an internet TV service, CNTV.cn, which will rebroadcast content from CCTV’s 20 TV channels and include user-generated content as well as a 400,000-hour archive service.

CCTV's on line site will also include live online broadcasts, on-demand content, and replays of majpr events through one “channel”, Bugu. Another, Xiyou, will offer user-generated content.

The service will be available internationally as well as being accessible from within the country. Many Chinese websites offering video content have been shut down by the government in recent months.
