French international channel TV5Monde has added the Japanese language to its subtitles and made it availablein its Pacific feed. Japanese is the channel’s 10th subtitle language after English, German, Arabic, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Romania, Russian and French.
This launch is part of the 2009-2012 strategic plan that includes strengthening existing subtitles and extend them to new languages. The move is aimed at extending the reach of the channel.
The amount of Japanese subtitles will be raised in the coming weeks to reach almost ten hours daily of subtitled programming.
TV5Monde boasts more than 350,000 subs in Japan through offer díHikari TV from cable operators and through the TV5Monde website.
