It’s official: Premiere now called Sky

sky_deutschlandThe name change of German pay-TV operator Premiere to Sky has now been concluded. Sky Deutschland AG was registered at the Federal Commercial Register in Munich on August 14.

Shareholders approved the name change at the annual general meeting in July and the company has been offering its services under the name Sky since July 4. Sky Deutschland’s shares will be traded on the Frankfurt stock exchange under Securities Identification Number (WKN) SKYD00 and the International Securities Identification Number (ISIN) DE000SKYD000. Existing shares will be automatically renamed.

The push for the name change came from new major shareholder News Corp, which already uses the Sky brand for its pay-TV offers in other countries. With an expanded channel line-up, new price structure and more HDTV services, the international media company wants to put the ailing subscription broadcaster back on the road to success.
