DVB-T2 tested in Spain

A group of researchers from the University of Seville have taken part in tests of the second generation of DTT, technically known as DVB-T2.

These tests come after those carried out in Turin and London, turning Spain into one of the most advanced countries in the DTT field.

The DVB-T2 standard is used for high definition broadcasts over DTT. The prototype receiver was made by Spain's Sidsa.

The results of the tests will be used to study the coverage and quality of the new standard as well as to validate the guides of implementation recently published on a worldwide level. Tests are valid for both terrestrial and mobile broadcasts.

The project, part of the global project called Furia has been led by Spain's main TV signal distribution operator Abertis Telecom and a total of 27 national partners took part in it. The budget for the tests was €9 million.
