German pay-TV operator Premiere, which will be relaunched as Sky on 4 July, will operate its pay-per-view service under the name Sky Select.
The latest James Bond adventure, Quantum of Solace, will be screened from the launch on 4 July. Feature films will be available from 4 months after their cinema debut in wide screen format 16:9 and offered both in the original language and the dubbed German version. Up to seven films can be selected daily, some of which will be available at the same time as they are released for sale as a DVD.
Films such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Gran Torino, John Rambo, Madagascar 2 in Australia will also be available in July, with each title costing €4.00. During "Happy Hour" at 16:00 CET films will cost just €1.00, while during "Familienkino" (Family Cinema) on Saturday and Sunday mornings films will cost €3.00. Sky Select will additionally offer sporting events, concerts and other premium content.
Meanwhile, Sky has activated its future websites, which currently show screen shots, for viewers in Germany and Austria under www.sky.de and www.sky.at. On the specially established website www.premiere.de/neu the Munich-based broadcaster informs subscribers about the upcoming changes.
