Goldbach Media invests in Wilmaa

goldbach_mediaGoldbach Media, the largest Swiss marketing agency for advertising slots on radio, television and the internet, has taken a stake in recently-launched internet TV platform Wilmaa. Goldbach acquired 50% of the shares in operating company Gartenhof Medien, a subsidiary of Zurich-based IP video service provider Solutionpark.

Financial details were not revealed. Goldbach Media has been exclusively marketing the advertising possibilities at the online service since the end of 2008.

Wilmaa offers live-streams of conventional TV channels via the internet. The platform currently comprises 22 channels including Switzerland’s main public and commercial broadcasters, as well as thematic channels and foreign services.

After a one-time registration, the live-streams are accessible for free at www.wilmaa.com through the web browser. No software player is required. As is the case with competitor Zattoo, which offers a comparable internet TV streaming service, Wilmaa aims to finance through commercials which are shown when the service is first accessed and during channel switching.

While Wilmaa is currently only available to internet users in Switzerland, Zattoo offers its service in several European countries including the UK.
