City broadcaster Salzburg TV has realised its planned satellite distribution with the channel now available free-to-air via Astra (19.2° East) in the digital package offered by public broadcaster ORF’s technical subsidiary ORS.
The Austria-based manufacturer of energy drink Red Bull took over the
channel at the beginning of 2007 and announced that the service would
be available from 2008 via satellite in order to reach a broader
audience. After Innsat TV and Tirol TV, Salzburg TV is the third
Austrian regional broadcaster to transmit via Astra.
The TV station, launched in 1995, has so far been available on cable
networks as well as terrestrially in Salzburg and surrounds,
neighbouring upper Austria and the bordering parts of Bavaria in
Germany. A live stream is offered on the website www.salzburgtv.at.
With Red Bull TV, Red Bull is currently preparing its own entertainment
and sports channel which is also planning cable and satellite
distribution.
