French mobile operators SFR and Bouygues have expressed doubts about the economical viability of personal mobile TV.

The operators expressed their views in letters addressed to TV channel
editors selected by regulatory body CSA for the country’s DVB-H
project.
The sixteen mobile TV channels had written to the operators to find out
about their financial contribution to the project, the way networks
would be covered, and the launch date. In fact, they were answered that
previous launches in Europe have not met success and that the
development of the project would be seriously affected if no business
model were found.
For now, operators are not in a hurry to launch mobile-TV services,
particularly with other mobile TV services already available (see
separate story) and incurring little risk for operators themselves.
