It isn’t just Europe that is showing strong satellite performance growth. SES Americom says its latest craft, AMC-21 which entered commercial service barely a month ago has already sold 16 transponders.
AMC-21 operates from the 125 deg West position, and covers all 50
States, as well as Mexico, Southern Canada and the Caribbean islands.
It is currently providing service to customers such as PBS, the
military in the shape of the US Army, US Marine Corps (through
Arrowhead), US Northern Command (through ARTEL) and maritime broadband
users. In addition, its occasional use capacity is fully booked to
support major networks’ coverage of the US election.
“Our growth on AMC-21 has exceeded our 2008 expectations for this new
orbital location. It is apparent the footprint and power of the
satellite is very attractive in a market with limited Ku-band
capacity,” said Rob Bednarek, President and CEO at SES Americom/New
Skies.
