rtvelogo.jpgAs Rapid TV News reported recently, Spain's national public broadcaster Televisión Española (TVE) is working on new future projects. The first is the launch of a cultural channel and the second is a high definition channel.

Both channels will be ready in 2010 when analogue switch off is finally implemented. On that date TVE will have two complete DTT muxes with capacity to broadcast a total of eight different channels.

TVE's new HD channel will not have an additional cost for the citizens according to the company's management working on the project.

As for TVE's international channel it will also broadcast not only in Spanish but also in other languages such as English, French, Arabic and
Mandarin Chinese.

Another project TVE is working on is the preparation of programmes with more public content since its channels are obliged to meet quotas of public service contents.

As for the radio services RTVE will prompt the multimedia applications such as internet and mobile broadcasting. Users will also be able to access RTVE's archives on-line.

In order to adapt to new technologies RTVE will invest €336 million in a three-year period and will count on 6,454 workers most of whom will work in the new headquarters the broadcaster is building in Madrid.
