Sports channel Eurosport, a TF1 subsidiary, is still leading France’s cable and satellite audience ratings, according to Mediamétrie’s bi-yearly study Mediacabsat.
Credited with a 1.6% audience share, up 0.2% compared to the previous
study, on the subscribing population, it is followed by Lagardère
Active’s kids’ channel Canal J, stable at 1.0%. M6’s women channel
Teva, Lagardère pre-schoolers’ service Tiji and NBC Universal’s 13ème
Rue equal in third position with a 0.8% audience share, all down 0.1%.
Led from December 31 2007 to June 15, the study to which major cabsat
channels such as RTL9 and news channel LCI no longer subscribe,
measures 89 channels. Among new ones are senior channel Vivolta,
launched last December, but whose audience has not taken off yet, stuck
at below 0.1% audience share.
According to Médiamétrie, the total number of subscribers to cable,
CanalSat and TPS have grown to 17.2 million, up 0.33 million people.
Like DTT, cabsat channels’ audience share keeps rising representing now
29.6% of total viewing compared to 29.1% from September 2007 to
February 2008 and 28.5% from January to June 2007.
