One of the largest telecommunications companies in Belgium, Proximus, is upgrading its ATEME based video head-ends of its National Broadcasters with the TITAN full-software solution.

proximusThe TITAN software family is claimed to be able to deliver high quality video quality at minimum bitrates for cable, DTT and DTH.

Explaining how the technology will see use at his company, Proximus head of applications and services platforms, Thierry Demoor, said: “ATEME’s head-end provides various resolutions, from low to UHD profile, as well as multiple codecs (H264/HEVC) within the same platform. This approach will lead to significant CAPEX and OPEX savings for Proximus. But the argument of choice was definitely the simple upgrade path that ATEME offers with this future-proof solution. We can very easily process H.264 SD & HD from the same off-the-shelf hardware. Upcoming 4K-UHD phases with HDR, HFR, WCG will be efficiently activated, depending on the use case we want to address, and we can offer HD HEVC to customers who only benefit from SD today.”

ATEME sales director Christophe Deffontaines added: “TITAN is the ideal solution servicing main and multiscreen applications. The solution also supports intelligent services which will enable Proximus to implement smart advertising.”
