Canal Sony and Clarovideo are to produce a second season of the Mexican adaptation of Shark Tank, Negociando con Tiburones.

shark tank 2Distributed by Sony Picture Television (SPT), the new season will be locally co-produced with pay-TV network Canal Sony and streaming platform Clarovideo. The over-the-top (OTT) service will gradually premiere the episodes immediately after their linear broadcast on Canal Sony.

“Shark Tank Mexico not only broke Canal Sony’s audience records during its first season, but it has also managed to motivate Mexicans with its message of entrepreneurship,” said José Antonio Hidalgo, VP and GM, Sony Pictures Television Mexico. “We’re sure the second season will keep drawing viewers to our channel.”

“At Clarovideo, we are thrilled to be collaborating in Shark Tank’s second season, which has become a reference in Mexico,” added Andrés Vázquez del Mercado, GM, Clarovideo. “The first season is already an important part of our video-on-demand (VOD) catalogue.

During the first year on air, Negociando con Tiburones managed to triple Canal Sony’s audience for Friday’s late prime time. The show’s success placed Canal Sony among the ten most watched pay-TV signals for the demographic aged 18-49 with medium-high income level.

The series is an adaptation of the reality show Dragons’ Den, created by Nippon TV in Japan and distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Television. The Mexican version has also been broadcast across Latin America through Canal Sony and Clarovideo.
