Expanding the company’s portfolio in the US and Latin America, CANAL + Overseas has launched THEMA America.

themaThe announcement also marks the consolidation of Miami-based distribution company, Alterna’TV, into THEMA America.

With headquarters in Miami and affiliated offices in Mexico, THEMA America will tap the support of its Paris-based company to give US and Latin American operators and platforms access to a wide array of channels and content from Africa, Asia and Europe. Among these are THEMA’s launch of Nollywood TV in France, Novelas TV in Africa and C Music TV HD, Fashion TV and Luxe.TV in Asia.

Patrick Rivet, THEMA’s SVP of distribution, has been named CEO of the new THEMA America, a natural progression following his success in strategically expanding THEMA’s international business for the past eight years.

“Patrick has demonstrated a keen understanding of today’s rapidly evolving content distribution industry, recognising early on the value of multicultural channels and content in a world that is no longer divided by geographic boundaries,” said THEMA CEO Fabrice Faux. “He has expanded the reach and expertise of THEMA’s channel and content distribution operations while also fine-tuning the marketing and communications aspects that are so vital in successfully launching these channels into new markets around the globe.”

“I am very eager to begin this new expansion effort on behalf of THEMA and the CANAL+ Group,” said Rivet. “Over the past decade, I have become even more passionate about the opportunities available for engaging multicultural content and the programming services that are addressing the tastes and needs of our truly global village. By consolidating the efforts of equally passionate executives from our recently acquired operations in North and South America, we have created a stronger foundation from which to generate effective, efficient and complementary distribution strategies that benefit all of our clients, partners and associates.”

In his newly created post, Rivet, who will be based in Miami, will focus on investing in and developing new content, expanding distribution for the company’s roster of channel clients and pursuing continued strategic growth opportunities for THEMA’s content and distribution businesses with a special emphasis on the US and Latin American markets.

Rivet also confirmed the current Alterna’TV management team will remain intact, and become employees of THEMA America.
