telefonica xtreamrBuilding on the success, especially among millennials, of live video features in social networks — such as Facebook with Live or Twitter with Periscope — Telefónica’s digital unit has developed the mobile platform that which supports both live broadcasting for other Xtreamr users and social media integration.

Besides, the telco plans to launch soon a business-focused version, targeting video needs of corporate clients, named Xtreamr Studios.

“Initially, the app will be available for everybody, not just Telefónica’s subscribers, in Spain and the UK,” explained Borja Salguero, product innovation manager, Telefónica .

The app, which is available for free in Google Play and the iOS app store, is also aimed to become a platform for content production and distribution agencies.

“The big difference of Xtreamr compared to other streaming apps is that the user chooses whom he shares the content with. In other apps, the goal is to be discovered, whereas Xtreamr intends to share content privately,” added the UK-based executive.
