TNT keeps growing among the Latin American audience, reaching 50 million subscriptions in the region during January 2014, plus more than 6 million active users on social networks.
The network, which has been in the region for more than 20 years, has also deployed a TV everywhere platform TNT GO, which offers both VOD and live streaming. The service is one of the reasons for TNT's recent growth in Latin America, with 10 million users in the seven markets in which it is currently working.
Social networks have also been growing in importance for TNT, which has its own app, through which, together with Twitter and Facebook, 6 million users interact with the channel and its programming.
“In such a dynamic market as Latin America, TNT reaches 50 million subscriptions, a figure that is not available for many networks,” said Rick Perez, senior VP of TNT Latin America, who recalled that the channel was launched in 1991 with 291,000 susbscribers.
TNT bases its programming on Hollywood movies and live broadcasting of cinema and music awards such as the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the Grammys and the Latin Grammys, the Screen Actors Guild or the Independent Film awards. The channel is broadacast in Spanish, English and Portuguese in more than 40 countries in Latin America and Caribbean.
