Only days after launching new interactive TV services, leading Ukrainian pay-TV operator Volia has announced a range of hybrid TV options.
With technology consulting firm Azdio serving as overall system integrator on the project, Volia is to use the Entone Hybrid Media Player platform to combine traditional broadcast services with enhanced IP services such as online TV, VOD, cloud DVR and catch-up TV. Hybrid Media Player supports satellite, cable, digital terrestrial broadcasting, fibre and xDSL TV service delivery.
Volia believes that the new deployment is in keeping with its history of innovation, boasting a track record including being the first cable company in Eastern Europe to launch DOCSIS Internet services. Volia’s new TV platform enables advanced TV services to be offered off-net to new target subscribers over broadband while also enhancing the features and services offered to existing Volia subscribers.
“We see Hybrid TV as taking Volia’s service to the next level, continuing to differentiate Volia from other options,” explained Gyorgy Zsembery, CEO of Volia. “Entone is a critical element in our delivery platform and was selected to start the project due to their focus on Hybrid TV solutions and their ability to partner with Volia and our ecosystem partners on an aggressive launch schedule.”
“Entone is delighted to be working with Volia to launch next-generation Hybrid TV services,” added Steve McKay, CEO of Entone. “There was a period of time when over-the-top (OTT) services were considered the competitor to pay-TV operators. It is now clear that everyone wins when progressive operators such as Volia embrace the innovations of OTT services and make them available to their customers as part of a seamless user experience without requiring additional boxes, additional remote controls or changes to the TV inputs.”
