Bringing the total number of HDTV programmes it offers to 39, UK cable MSO Virgin Media has added new HD channels from Turner Broadcasting to its portfolio.

The Turner channels which will be added during the coming months will include TCM HD, Cartoon Network HD and TCM 2 and will allow Virgin to offer films such as An Affair to Remember, Thomas Crown Affair, 300, The Fugitive, The Matrix and In Her Shoes.

Content from the Cartoon Network, Cartoonito and Boomerang will be made available on Virgin TV Anywhere across a range of devices, as well as 3D on demand on Virgin TV later this year. Some will also be available through Virgin Media’s exclusive Cartoon Network TiVo app.

Commenting on the move, Anthony Lukom, Turner UK general manager and managing director said: “It’s fantastic news that Virgin Media customers now have the opportunity to watch TCM’s vast library of films and first run cinematic series such as Hell on Wheels and Wild Boys, as well as Cartoon Network’s much loved kids’ shows in HD quality format. This is another exciting step in our network’s continuing evolution, giving our growing audiences outstanding viewer experiences.”
