SnagFilms, the independent movie distributor, is looking to access analytics and performance reporting for its multiplatform VOD and Electronic Sell-Through (EST) content, through a new partnership with Rentrak.

SnagFilms offers select independent titles via transactional video-on-demand with partners that include Comcast, iN Demand, Verizon's FiOS, DIRECTV and soon, DISH Network. Digital platform partners include iTunes, Hulu Plus, Amazon, VUDU, Xbox Live, YouTube Movies, and it will launch soon on Samsung Media Hub. In all, it reaches nearly 90% of U.S. video-on-demand households with a library of more than 3,000 independent films for free, sponsor-supported and on-demand viewing on its Website, mobile apps, connected TV devices and a digital network of more than 110,000 affiliated sites and Web pages worldwide.

Now, it would like to better measure the success of the supporting advertising though this platform implementation, which includes Rentrak's OnDemand Essentials measurement currency as well the Digital Download Essentials, which provides reporting for VOD and EST.

"As SnagFilms continues to grow its pay video-on-demand business, it is essential we have viewer insight into how our films are performing on cable/satellite VOD, and online rental and EST platforms," said Rick Allen, SnagFilms' CEO. "In order to optimise our marketing and programming initiatives, Rentrak's OnDemand Essentials and Digital Download Essentials services will provide us with the ratings, analysis and performance reporting we need to manage and build our business."
